Shilpa @ London

I am sure Shilpa's London Blues has captured a huge media space back home . Me particularly , isn't much impressed with the concept of this reality show and so never wished to see that till recently it became a talk of the town . Just to be in sync with what people are speaking all around , i had to see a couple of the episodes this week . Boy!! you perhaps have never seen a pale and depressed Shilpa even in her saddest scenes in any bollywood movies - She looks as if the entire hell has broken lose on her and is just a pale shadow of what she is. Really i pitty her and i feel what was her need to come here and expose herself to these unclutured lot ..May be her popularity will increase many folds in UK owing to the huge public sympathy and we may see her next movie being premiered in London , but i am sure she will repent this decision of stepping into Big brother house for a long long time .

Basically , there is a cultural clash and that has exposed the darker side of english society . Whatever anyone claim , its still a fact that Racisim still exists here .The British Administration is trying level best to distance itself from this ugly turn of events and is putting a brave face to appease the subcontinent and its people by condeming it , but the reality is far by miles . Things which are often hush hush in this socalled 'cosmopoliton 'or 'multicultural' London society has suddenly exploded in the full view of the public at large .
Asians are finding this almost synonymous of what many of them face day in and day out over the years . And this incident has put voice in the mouths of the under dogs . And the clamour is heard 4000 odd miles away back home.

With all these around still people are crazy to come here .. The craze for HSMP( visa type) to settle down here for life is kind of a dream for most engineers and doctors ...while the rest try the option of coming here through the route of so called higher education and settle down 'peacefuly' . Its baffling to explain why London Dreams excites so many people back home , even though many of such dreams came crashing down like a pack of cards with the recent HSMP policy - bottom line is perhaps the strength of pound . It still shines and gives you a better return and will continue to do so till all the colonial wealth is exhausted . Till the wealth we were robbed of for centuries are spent the pound will rule and we middle class indians will harbour dreams of coming here .

Amid lots of swanky cars , luxury at throw away price , its difficult to judge the strength and the equity of this economy , but if you scrap the surface you see where its heading . I was in a discussion with a cab driver and he says english people doesn't have much money . He often visits pubs and bars late nights to pick up passengers and as per him the people who has money in London are either Asians or East Europeans ....Most of the mortgages for homes are taken by asians - thats what my estate agent reveals. It would be interesting to see where this country heads in future ...

Well, its only 15 days left for me in this city and for me the pound shone well sofar i was here and gave good returns to my hard work , but as i go back i feel my son won't grow up to come here ...By then the colonial wealth would be exhausted and then may be Jade( Shipa's rival in Big Brother) will find difficult time in adusting to her house mates in the sets of Big Boss somewhere in Goregaon . But i am sure our folks wont be rude to her as she is to Shilpa ... after all we donot have the strength of pound , but definitely have the resillence of a cultured inteligentia where we have seen the warmth of wealth when perhaps the jades were in their infancy of civilisation.
